Wayfinding system
In 2001, Westerpark was transformed into a 15 acres large linear park in which culture and nature come together
Client: Municipality of Amsterdam
Period: 2006
Apart from the original 19th century town park, the Westerpark consists of an arthouse cinema, exhibition space, children’s farm and sports field as well as garden allotments.
Mijksenaar designed the wayfinding for the entire park whilst placing emphasis on the area around the old gasworks where a majority of the destinations are located. The design is a reflection of the details in the disused gasworks buildings. The signs offer the possibility to add or remove destinations.
